One of the things that's been a big part of gearing in Battle for Azeroth is randomness. Whether you love or hate that, things like Corruption, Titanforging, and sockets on gear as a random factor have been part of the game this expansion, and that's something that Shadowlands will be reining in to a degree.

This is an updated version of the popular Best In Slot Redux addon used to track and manage what your best items are in Raids and Dungeons. Currently this build only had the new Raid boss drops and will be updated to include all dungeon items.

Accessing the AddOn

By default there’s a mini-map button which looks like this: You can also access the AddOn by using the chat commands: /bis or /bestinslot. Try /bis help for additional commands. There’s also support for data broker AddOns like Titan Panel or similar.

The Manager

The BiS Manager is where all the magic happens. This is the place where you can set your BestInSlot lists. On startup the AddOn automatically selects the highest available raid tier and difficulty. You can make a BestInSlot list for every raid tier, for every difficulty, for every specialization. For instance, a hunter can have 3 specializations for Mythic Antorus, the Burning Throne: one for Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and Survival.

The manager will show you a copy of your inventory screen and for each slot you can set a BestInSlot item. The AddOn uses the loot list of that list and checks if you’re eligible for that loot in that slot. You’ll get a list with items that you’re eligible to roll for the selected raid tier, difficulty and specialization.

I’ve setup my BiS list, what is the advantage of using this Add On?

First off, you can easily check what you need from an instance on a per boss basis.

You can make custom BiS lists if you need more than the standard one for each specc.

You can export your BiS lists to WoWhead or SimCraft.

Cool. Can this somehow help seeing who needs which item too?

Yes it can! With the Request BiS panel can you automatically fetch your raids, guild members or a whisper target’s BiS lists and see how many people that need an item from each boss.

And if you have a persons BiS list so can you see that they need that item with the ingame tooltip.

Note: This version was created when I ran into UI errors on the Shadowlands Beta when trying to update it for my guild.

Stat Priorities

As a general rule of thumb, intellect is our most crucial stat in any situation, which means that every ilvl upgrade you get should be considered.

Single Target

1. Intellect

AoE & Mythic+

Stat Outline

Critical Strike - This is a frost mages bread and butter. The whole spec works around critical strike, with the help of Icy Propulsion and Shatter.

Haste - Haste is an extremely important stat for a frost mage; even though we are getting a lot of haste from Icy Veins, It still gives us the ability to cast Frostbolts faster. This means that we will get more chances to proc Ice Lance Brain Freeze, which in return will provide us with more cooldown reduction and more Icy Veins resets.

Versatility - Not much to say about Versatility. It increases our damage and survivability.

Mastery - Mastery as a stat is pretty irrelevant for a frost mage on single target, and you should try to avoid it as much as possible for single target purposes.

Best In Slot Frost Mage Shadowlands

As far as races go, generally speaking, all the mage races are relatively close.

Dwarf and void elves are slightly ahead when playing Alliance, and blood elf, trolls, orcs, and goblins are all valid options on the horde side.

Enchants

You should always Sim yourself but as a guideline you want to enchant critical strike up to 33% and then haste when you are above.

Chest - Eternal stats

Bracer - Eternal Intellect

Cloak - Fortified Avoidance

Weapon - Sinful Revelation(single target) and Celestial Guidance gains value on more targets.

Ring - Tenet of Critical Strike / Tenet of Haste, but like stated in the stats section, sim your character if possible to see what your gear needs

Deadly Jewel Cluster (Crit) / Quick Jewel Cluster (Haste)

Consumables

Food - Feast of Gluttonous Hedonism. If you cant have feast go with Spinefin Souffle and Fries(Crit) / Tenebrous Crown Roast Aspic(haste)

Flask - Spectral Flask of Power

Potion - Potion of Spectral Intellect

Health Potion - Spiritual Healing Potion

Oil - Shadowcore Oil
